Falmouth Academy’s Cool Nights Jazz Band to perform June 15 and 16 at West Falmouth Libary
Falmouth Academy's Cool Nights Jazz Band will perform two concerts at West Falmouth Library, 575 West Falmouth Highway, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 15 and 16. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and are available at West Falmouth Library. The concert benefits programs at the library and the Cool Nights Jazz Band’s annual summer trip. The band is comprised of 18 high school students who study advanced jazz with George Scharr all year long. The average band member has been in the band for three or more years and is 16 to 17 years-old. Nine seniors will graduate this year and will perform their swan song, featuring a double drum solo with Tyler Gwynn and Allisa Dalpe on the song "Oh My God."
Every June, the band travels on the annual Music in the Mountains trip in Northern New England, where they perform in the area's best venues, including the Mt. Washington Hotel, the Mt. Washington Cruise Line and the Balsam's Resort in New Hampshire. The local performances will kick off this year’s trip, which will run from June 19 through 24.
