Birding the Powderhole on South Monomoy
Bird the southern tip of South Monomoy, an island that extends six miles into Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean, with Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Sanctuary director Bob Prescott. Enjoy a special trip to the Powderhole, a salt pond on the island's southwest corner - a great place for watching shorebirds, terns, egrets, and gulls. Be prepared to walk in soft sand and through poison ivy; it is well worth the effort to visit this pristine wilderness.
