Diane & Dave Carlson back by popular demand will again enlighten us with their talk and power point demonstration how in 1995, they applied for and secured a grant to raise shellfish on Cape Cod Bay in Brewster. It was to be another extension of their marine interests and perhaps a means to earn an income in retirement. Eighteen years later, having undergone many experiences and changes to their growing system they have come to a balance. We will learn about the challenges of growing shellfish and how it varies from day to day and year to year. We will hear about the excitement of trying and tweaking new growing methods, educating the many visitors who come to their site, and appreciate the beauty of their "work place" all reasons why they enjoy working at their Ebbwater Sea Farm; growing 'Brewster oysters'. Diane taught elementary school for over 35 years and has always lived around and had a fondness for the ocean. Fishing, swimming, sailing, and diving have been seasonal favorite pastimes over the years. Now she can proudly add aquaculture pursuits to her enchantment with salt water bodies. Fee $5
