Author Talk with Karen Levine
Karen Levine, author of the award winning book Hana's Suitcase, will discuss her book and the lessons of the Holocaust. Hana’s Suitcase is the amazing story of what happened when Fumiko, a Holocaust educator in Tokyo, received a suitcase from the Auschwitz museum with the name "Hana Brady" written on the side with white paint. The heartbreaking story Fumiko uncovered was that of a brave young girl killed in the Holocaust, survived only by her brother George, who now lives in Canada.
Karen Levine is a prize-winning producer with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. She has won the prestigious Peabody Award twice and her highly acclaimed radio production of Hana's Suitcase won the Gold World Medal at the New York International Radio Festival. Hana's Suitcase has been published in 40 countries and 29 languages and has inspired stage and screen adaptations around the world.
The presentation will take place on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. These presentations are made possible through the Lawrence D. Huller Memorial Fund.
