Radiolab’s Jad Abumrad to Speak in Woods Hole
Abumrad is the co-host and co-creator (with Robert Krulwich) of the cult-sensation Radiolab, the inventive public radio program about big ideas in science. His background in music composition infuses the program’s rhythm and style.
Abumrad was named a 2011 MacArthur “Genius” Fellow. He’s been called a “master of the radio craft” for his unique ability to combine cutting edge sound-design, cinematic storytelling, and a personal approach to explaining complex topics, from the stochasticity of tumor cells to the mathematics of morality.
His talk will explore the idea of tension in his own upbringing, then move into the idea of tension in the craft of audio storytelling –– the tension between words and music, between story and science.
