Free Poetry Class
Are you a poet? Generate new work and hone revision skills in a six-session poetry class led by award-winning poet Lorna Knowles Blake. Each workshop will include reading and analysis of published poems old and new, then of participants’ work. Writing prompts and exercises will be suggested each week. The class will culminate in a reading at the Library. Please bring nine copies of your poems to the first session.

Lorna Knowles Blake is the author of Permanent Address, winner of the Richard Snyder Priz e from Ashland University Press. She is an editor at the journal Barrow Street and teaches at the 92nd Street Y in New York City and Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York.

Each workshop is on a Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in the Historic Room of the Brewster Ladies’ Library, and the dates are as follows: September 13, September 20, September 27, October 4, October 11, and October 18, 2012. The reading of participants’ work will take place on an evening later in October.

Admission to the class is free, but registration is required – sign up at the library’s reference desk or call the library at 508-896-3913. The class is limited to eight participants, who are all asked to attend all six workshops.
