The Alzheimers Services of Cape Cod is presenting this program to highlight Denya LeVine, a classically trained violinist who has traveled the world learning ethnic fiddle music. She has the unique ability to sing in three languages to help people connect with each other through music. It is known that the ability to understand and respond to music can be appreciated on an emotional level and can sometimes be the gateway to past stories and memories. Research shows that stimulation through music can help memory and enhance conversation among people with dementia. Patricipants will engage not only with the music but also with others in the group to bond and help promote a sense of well being and reduced stress. Music has been used to facilitate conversation and connectedness among people with dementia.
