The Sandwich Arts Alliance is embarking on its second whimsical Adirondack Chair Trail this summer. In collaboration with local businesses, 26 authentic Adirondack chairs, each uniquely decorated by an accomplished Sandwich Arts Alliance artist, will be on display from Memorial Day through Labor Day. “This project has been a leap of faith for our business sponsors and our artists who made the commitment to participate back in the fall when many had been experiencing months of hardship due to the pandemic”, explains Development Team Lead and Event Manager Kathy Aubin. “With their encouragement, we decided to proceed, and we are now able to showcase the stunning work of our artists and to help drive traffic to our local businesses throughout the summer.... A monumental exhibition, part of the Cape Cod Museum of Art’s year-long 40th anniversary celebration. Orchestrated around the theme of “Voyage”, the exhibition includes over 40 historical maps of Cape Cod dating back to 1570 and spanning 500 years from the collection of David Garner; the exhibit "Our" Story: 400 years of Wampanoag History created by SmokeSygnals with the support of Plymouth 400; an immersive installation "Landscapes and People of the First Light, 11,000 years ago" designed by artist and cartographer Mark Adams; and 2 newly restored Art Deco Murals from the 1930’s from the collection of John and Eliza Lewis. cARTography is sponsored by Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club and the Josh E.... This year's artist in the Contemporary Gallery is Fritz Lauenstein. He started blowing glass in 1974 at the Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine. He then attended Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont and the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Massachusetts.... (more)
