Gifts from the Forest: A Celebration of our Living Collection of Trees

Visit Heritage on Saturday, October 7 and celebrate our glorious trees! Staff Horticulturalist Jeannie Gillis, Bartlett Tree Service and other experts in the field will create a day full of informative lectures, workshops and walking tours on the museum grounds to highlight our living collection of trees! Artists working in wood will illustrate how specific species are still in use today through the demonstration and display of their craft. Featured artists will include Alfie Glover, Al Barber, John Serra, John Stuart of Arborvitae Woodworking, the Barnstable Bat Company and many more!

At 1 pm take part in an interactive show and attend Sarah Salerno-Thomas’ “The Singing, Ringing Tree.” Held on the Outdoor Concert Stage, this fairy tale is about the transformative powers of love. Children from the audience will portray all 12 characters ranging from panthers to pigs. The production feature a collection of large papier-mâché masks created by award-winning artist Ruth Fledermaus.
