Let us celebrate the Winter Solstice with the pairing of Pink Floyd’s classic album Dark Side of the Moon with the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. This produces moments of apparent synchronicity where the film and album appear to correspond. The tradition is to play the album once, starting at the MGM lion’s third roar. After the album ends, the movie continues on its own.

Whimsical yellow brick roads weave in and out of Pink Floyd’s progressive rock masterpiece. Do you not believe it? Even more reason to come! The pairing has been both a music and film phenomena that Pink Floyd and producer have denied any intentional of a match-up. People have been pairing the two for decades, so whether it is your first or 100th time, it is always a new experience.

Falmouth Public Library will be running the “match-up” on Friday, December 19th (12/19/2025), from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM in the Hermann Foundation Meeting Room. All are welcome, and we especially want to invite crafters of all kinds— particularly knitters and crotchetiest. Feel free to bring a project and work on it during the film. We will have hot cocoa and light refreshments to keep things cozy.
