An interactive introduction to using mindfulness to help maintain brain health.
Stress is one of the most pernicious and avoidable conditions that can predispose us toward brain diseases like Alzheimer’s. Chronic stress, and the real ongoing chemical imbalance it creates in the body, can damage many organ systems, especially the brain.
Practicing mindfulness has been shown to be an effective way to reduce stress and contribute to restoring balance in our lives. It can help us build the resilience we need to stay healthy longer into our later years.
Come learn the basics of how stress affects our brain health, and how mindfulness can help us reduce that stress. Anyone who can breathe can learn the practice of mindfulness. Join us in this interactive workshop to share some mindful moments, experiencing the connection between calm awareness and health. Free downloadable mindfulness practices will be available for participants.
Adam Liss trained at the Stress Reduction Clinic and Center for Mindfulness to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and brings more than twenty years of experience to the classes he offers. He co- founded the organization that grew into Calmer Choice, bringing mindfulness to students in Cape Cod Schools.
This program will take place in the Main Meeting Room at the Osterville Village Library on Sunday January 4th at 1pm
