Cape Cod hosts several dozen river herring runs. Two species of herring swim up the runs in April and May to spawn, then return to the ocean. Scientists believe they’ve been migrating up streams along the Atlantic since long before Cape Cod was scraped up by Ice Age glaciers. The Centerville River is one of the Cape’s runs, and its robust migration has been one of the largest on the Cape in recent years.... (more)

Pulitzer prize willing investigative journalist with the Boston Globe, author Stephen Kurkjian will be at the Osterville Village Library presenting "Solving The Lady Of The Dunes'. On becoming Provincetown's lone police detective ten years ago, Meredith Lobur visited the gravesite of the town's most famous murder victim, a woman whose identity had been unknown since her body had been found in 1974 on a lonely stretch of the town's legendary sand dunes, and made a solemn pledge - "I'm going to get you back to your family." It took more than a decade but staying current with the advances in DNA research and using her legal background as well as continuous prodding of the FBI, she was able to assist in finding the woman's identity and reunite the woman's remains with her family. Once her identity became known, more secrets would emerge...
