Historic Indigenous Reservation Walking Tour + Quaker Hospitality
In 1713, Yarmouth residents laid out 160 acres creating a reservation for the indigenous peoples of Yarmouth to live upon. This confined area was their home for 65 years. Join Wampanoag-Nipmuc, Waban Webquish (Marcus Hendricks) & local historian, Bob Kelley, on a walk around the boundaries of this one-time reservation to learn more about those that once lived there. Begins at Packet Landing (6 Pleasant St. S.Yarmouth, MA 02664) & finishes at the Yarmouth Quaker Meetinghouse (58 N Main St, S.Yarmouth, MA 02664), just after their service is finished. Tour participants are invited to break bread with the Friends in the Ancient Schoolhouse on the Quaker grounds. Lunch is included with this special tour.
PLEASE NOTE: This walking tour will cover about 2 miles, taking 2 hours. Tour is rain or shine. Please wear comfortable walking shoes & dress for the weather. Tour maximum is 30 people. Online reservations close 1 hour prior to tour time (8:30 AM).
