When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. With an incredible score by a dizzying array of pop royalty including Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Panic at the Disco and David Bowie, The SpongeBob Musical is nonstop toe-tapping fun for the whole family. Joining Holly Erin McCarthy (who also co-designs costumes) on the production team are scenic designer Ryan McGettigan, costume designer Robin McLaughlin, lighting designer Susan Nicholson, and props design by Baylie Hartford. Brielle Whalen is the Stage Manager and set construction is by Seamus Devine & Paddo Devine.
The cast features some of our audience’s favorite children’s show performers including Chelsey Jo Brown as the ever cheerful SpongeBob Squarepants, Anthony Teixeira as SpongeBob’s best pal Patrick Star, Ari Lew as Squidward Q. Tentacles, Alex Murray as Sandy Cheeks and Hannah Carrita as Mr. Krabs. Hailey Deltano (Ms. Mayor) makes her Outdoor Theater debut joined by Cape Rep newcomers Sam Billman ( Sheldon J. Plankton), Emily Shafritz (Karen the Computer) and Jack Martin (Mrs. Puff) in this high energy, tentacle-tapping, undersea musical adventure.

Cape Rep’s 40th Anniversary season opened in our new venue the Crosby Barn with Every Brilliant Thing, followed by the thrilling new work Midsummer Dreamers based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream adapted by Kirsten Peacock and Nick Nudler playing June 18 - July 13. The summer will feature the glorious musical Sunday in the Park with George, July 29 - August 24. We have an exciting TBA play scheduled September 17 - October 12. Our season will conclude with the romantic musical comedy, She Loves Me, running November 6 - December 7. Our outdoor daytime children’s programs will feature the Cape premiere of the hilarious The SpongeBob Musical: Theatre for Young Audiences Edition playing June 25 - August 28 and Puppets, Paul and Mary’s Summer Bucket List, June 24 - August 26.
