‘Boston History in Poetry’ presented by Anthony Sammarco
Boston History in Poetry Noah Webster describes poetry as a literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas using distinctive style and rhythm, poems collectively or as a genre of literature. In this lecture, Boston History is paired with poets, poetesses and many captivating poems that deal with Boston from the 17th century to the present. From Ann Bradstreet, the first acknowledged poetess in Boston, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Lydia Maria Child, Oliver Wendell Holmes, to T.S. Eliot, Kahlil Gibran, Amy Lowell, this is a fascinating glimpse into poetry over the centuries.
