Voices of Independence brings spoken word and music to the historic stage of the Old Whaling Church in a one-night civic program commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. Featuring Island notables, historic texts, and personal reflections, the evening explores liberty, democracy, and the meaning of independence—then and now —reviving the 19th-century tradition of public oration marking the nation’s founding.
