Cape Cod hosts several
dozen river herring runs.
Two species of herring
swim
up the runs in April and
May to spawn, then return
to the ocean. Scientists
believe they’ve been
migrating up streams
along the Atlantic since
long before
Cape Cod was scraped up
by Ice Age glaciers.
The Centerville River is
one of the Cape’s runs,
and its robust migration
has
been one of the largest on
the Cape in recent years....
