Join us for a day-long excursion to Cuttyhunk Island, off the southern coast of Massachusetts, on a privately chartered boat. The one and a half-hour boat trip which leaves from Woods Hole will take us through Vineyard Sound and Buzzards Bay along the Elizabeth Islands, with commentary focusing on landmarks, geology, wildlife, and the history of the quiet, protected islands. Along the way, we'll look for endangered Roseate Terns and other species of seabirds and waterfowl. We'll spend four hours on Cuttyhunk enjoying the quaint village and harbor, exploring the islands habitats for migratory songbirds and watching from Lookout Hill for passing raptors. Participants will have a choice of a short or long guided walk. The long hike has more of a focus on birds and natural history while the short hike focuses on island history and landmarks. Afterwards, you will have time to visit a gift shop, swim, or explore on your own.
