Join staff librarian, Renee Voorhees, to discuss a different short story each week. Audience suggestions are welcome. This is not a college course and don’t expect a drawn out discussion. I will ask each attendee: Did the story speak to you—Why or Why not? (We’ll probably be done with the discussion before you have time to finish your beverage-and beverages are encouraged…It is your home, after all).

If you did not receive the ZOOM link after you registered, email Renee at reneevoorhees@gmail.com. If you know others who may be interested, please share the ZOOM link. This ZOOM link will not change from week to week. Attend when you can. Drop in/Drop out. If you have a favorite story let me know. There are two rules for stories. 1. They must be available online to read or download (from a reliable site that will not compromise the security of your computer). 2. They have to be less than 10 pages long unless they are really, really good. I will define “good” and defend the choices (mine or yours).

From Falmouth Enterprise November 25th, 2020 edition: Ms. Voorhees pitched the event by describing the shortest of short stories. “Ernest Hemingway wrote a six- word short story and celebrated his success by writing 20 additional six-word sequels. The series began with this one: “For sale: baby shoes. Never worn.” The 20 sequels (which also contained six words each) continue the story by having the baby not only survive, but grow and grow and grow. Not surprisingly, a number of authors jumped at the challenge. Google six-word short stories and write one to share at our first meeting. Mine is: Covid 19. When? Where? How? Why?”
